Proposed Certified Re-Use of the Historic Windsor Hotel, Americus, GA.

After the State of Georgia Historic Preservation Office produced a Preservation Study, James E. Toth, Architect, then in Macon, GA., worked with C. O. Smith of Moultrie, GA., to produce a proposed Assisted and Senior Living Center in the historic hotel with mixed use retail on the lower level and public use of the Grand Ball Room. It may be noted that President Jimmy and Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter had their wedding reception in the grand ball room in 1946.  The project was favorably review by the City of Americus but the project was placed on hold.  Since, the historic hotel has undergone other Re-Use development and is used as luxury hotel under the Best Western brand, designed and developed by others.
